If you travel iantrnaeiontlly a lot to both Israel and the Arab nations, the proper way to process immigration is to hand your passport towards the officer but not release it. Say clearly that you travel to arab countries and do not want your passport stamped. DON'T release it until they acknowledge your request. They'll then stamp an insert that can be removed at departure. If you just hand them the passport and then try talking they'll stamp it reflexively. If a US citizen you can obtain a 2nd business passport good for 2 years only. This can be used just for your Isreali trips if needed (or if they stamp your primary passport). This type of passport is handy if you have to send your regular passport out to embassy's for visas and have to travel in the interim. Israel is not the only country in this catagory. Used to be if you had a South African stamp it was a huge pain to get into India/etc. Likewise if you have stamps from countries considered terrorist supporters it'll give you an extended stay (at least) in a variety of western transit lines (e.g. holding areas).
