Daesh on Tuesday released a video showing the murder of 16 men by drowning them in a cage, detonating explosives around their necks, and firing a rocket-propelled grenade into a car after locking them inside of it, AFP reported.
The men in the video are accused by Daesh of being “spies,” and some of them give their “confessions” on camera.
The video shows four men in red jumpsuits being put inside a car. A militant standing nearby then fires a rocket-propelled grenade through the passenger-side door and into the vehicle, which then explodes in a ball of flame.
A militant is later shown locking five men dressed in jumpsuits into a large metal cage. The cage is then lowered by a crane into what appears to be a dirty swimming pool.
Cameras underneath the water capture the struggles and screams of the men as they drown in the murky water.
The metal cage is then raised out of the water, showing the bodies of the men piled on the floor of the cage. One of the men is frothing at the mouth.
The last killings show a militant wrapping blue detonating cord around the necks of seven men who are kneeling on the ground in a line. The explosives are then set off, decapitating some of the men.
The video is one of the most brutal to have been released by the militant group. The videos are a key propaganda tool in a bid to intimidate their enemies and draw in new recruits.
