Egypt’s Muslim Brothers' Verdict Expected next Month

The high military court in Cairo will hand down its verdict July 30th in the trial of 20 Muslim Brothers charged with "reactivating" their banned movement, a judicial source said Sunday. 

They are accused of damaging the social peace, membership in an illegal organization whose goal is to suspend the constitution and trying to revive the Muslim Brotherhood, according to the bill of indictment. 

The 20 were arrested in October, and their trial opened in December. 

The prosecution is seeking the maximum penalty -- 15 years in prison with hard labor. 

The Muslim Brotherhood's goal is the creation of a state based on Islamic law -- CAIRO (AFP)
