Four Police, Others Arrested in Anti-Mafia Swoop
Italian police on Wednesday arrested four of their officers for suspected membership in organized crime networks and corruption in the mid-1990s, the Naples anti-Mafia police department said.
Suspects were said to have accepted money and gifts from known members of the Camorra, the Naples Mafia, and passed on classified information.
One police officer was also believed to have acted as a driver for a Mafia boss following his escape from prison.
Police also arrested two other suspects in the crackdown on organized crime, who are believed to have carried weapons illegally into a Mafia summit, which was broken up by police -- NAPLES, Italy, (AFP)
