General strike in Syria as over 60 killed during weekend
Residents of some Syrian cities started on Sunday the implementation of the civil disobedience campaign called for by the local coordinating committees under the name of the "strike of dignity." The series of strikes, according to the committees, aims to paralyze the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
Meanwhile, opposition sources declared that 21 people died on Saturday after being shot by Syrian security forces. At last four people were killed in the province of Idleb in northern Syria and at least five killed in Homs. Others were killed in Hama, Dara'a and Damascus countryside. 41 people were killed Friday, including seven children amid growing international concern about an imminent army invasion into the Syrian city of Homs.
