Iraq Prepares Plan to Deal with Water Crisis
Chairman of the Iraqi planning commission Hassan Abdul Menem said Sunday that the commission is seeking to prepare a plan to withstand the water crisis, which would be implemented annually and would continue until the year 2015, reported ArabicNews.com.
Quoting the Iraqi weekly al-Thawra on Friday, Abdul Menem said that “it is not a secret that Turkey is building large dams, a situation, which pushed Iraq to exert tremendous efforts to draw a plan to avoid having a water crisis.”
The Iraqi official explained that it was decided to carry out gigantic projects in the area for dealing with the water problem, the agency added.
These projects include al-Jazira southern and eastern irrigation project, al-Fares dam and Badoush – Albawaba.com
