JAPM, Int@j and USAID collaborate to reinforce ICT Diffusion in the Pharmaceutical Sector
In a bid to introduce ICT and outsourcing solutions and trends in the pharmaceuticals sector, Jordanian Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Medical Appliances (JAPM), Int@j Association, and the USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ) conducted a one day workshop at Grand Hyatt Amman. This Workshop comes in continuation of an earlier one held late January which targeted private hospitals and promoted linkage between the two key sectors of ICT and medical services. Attending this workshop were pharmaceutical industry leaders, members of Int@j Association, and USAID Jordan officials.
The workshop aims to present pharmaceutical trends and experiences of other countries, regionally and globally. The global pharmaceutical industry has adopted over the past ten years computerized systems and IT infrastructure to increase their productivity. However, strict regulations that impact the use of computerized systems in this vibrant sector are observed by these countries. These Workshops come to provide an in-depth understanding of the regulatory impact of using computerized systems by all stakeholders - the IT companies, hosting companies, and the pharmaceuticalindustry to ensure the success of their adoption.
Int@j has successfully set the floor for Jordan’s ICT future. Similarly, the JAPM has positioned itself as a recognized representative of the pharmaceutical industry in Jordan. Coming together in this important work will no doubt yield considerable boosting to their respective sectors, and to the national economy.
In his opening remarks, Mr Marwan Juma', Chairman of Int@j said stressed that Int@j's target is to have better understanding for the needs of the pharmaceutical sector in order to be able to move forward and meet their needs and expectations.
On his part, Vice Chairman of JAPM Mr Maher Kurdi highlighted the importance of ICT diffusion in modern pharmaceutical industry practices. He stressed on the importance of understanding of regulatory requirements that must be met by both pharmaceutical and IT companies to successfully implement and validate the use of computerized systems in the pharmaceutical industry.
The USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ) is a five year broad economic development initiative implemented by Bearing Point, Inc. and includes a sizeable team of international and Jordanian partner firms. By both supporting improvements in the business environment and providing assistance to expand innovation and productivity in Jordanian businesses, SABEQ supports the main objective of building up the private sector as a powerful engine of economic growth.
