Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that the presidential candidates should speak on realities regarding the country's political and economic situation. Speaking to thousands of people in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdestan province, Khamenei stated that people should exercise vigilance in preserving their dignity and try to elect the best and most qualified candidate.
Ayatollah Khamenei also advised the candidates to avoid distorting realities which might ruin the public opinion.
According to IRNA, he also called on Iranian citizens to massively turn up in June 12's presidential elections while underlining the fact that the eligibility of the candidates will be screened by the Guardians Council. “People should elect those who live a simple and modest life, who are acquainted with the problems and sufferings of other people and who have avoided extravagance," he said.
A nation who is proud of its history, culture and identity and is hopeful of its future will attain triumph and success, underlined Khamenei.
