Kuwait’s Arabi Wins 12th Soccer Title
Kuwaiti Arabi's defender, Muhammed Adiem broke the ever-lasting tie with a powerful header to defeat its competitor Tadamon 2-1 and celebrate the Kuwait Prince Soccer Cup for the 12th time, Sunday at Kuwait's Club Stadium.
Both finalists adopted a similar formulation, packing 5 players in their defending area, and three midfielders to support the two strikers.
This tactic gave balance to the encounter, enabling the two opponents to exchange mutual attacks.
In the 36th minute, the champions were the first to score from a 40-meter free kick. Thanks to Ahmad Mussa, who wittily and powerfully struck an unstoppable bullet into Tadamon's top left net.
However, Arabi did not enjoy their leading goal for more than 3 minutes, when Tadamon’s Hadi Damwi surprised them with the equalizing goal.
The two rival’s failure to score any more during the original time made them go through two extra times.
Five minutes before the final whistle, Adiem said the final word as he broke the 1-1 draw with a header to steal away Tadamon's dream of keeping the title -- (Several Sources)
