Movie on Iraq invasion filmed in Tunisia
The Italian director and comedian Roberto Benigni announced Monday November 15 that he is filming in Tunisia a film called “the tiger and the snow” about the American invasion of Iraq, in a statement made with his filming crew.
The hero of “Life is beautiful” which won acclaim at the Cannes film festival in 1998 and won three Oscars in 1999 is about an Italian poet corned in Iraq on the eve of the 2003 invasion with his lover. The latter role is being played his wife, Nicoletta Braschi.
The director of the film is Ridha Turki, a famous Tunisian director. Mr. Turki has run the Monastir film company for the past 17 years and the company is considered to be on a world level.
Tunisia has one of the most sophisticated film industries in the Arab world although it is much smaller than Egypt which boasts the largest film industry in Arab countries. (albawaba.com)
