Privately Funded Health Center Opens in Bahrain
Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa opened yesterday the new Hamad Kanoo Health Center yesterday that will be able provide numerous services to more than 50,000 people in the Bukuwara region.
The Bahrain Tribune daily reported that the new BD 1.5 million health center, one of Bahrain's largest, was sponsored by the Kanoo family to meet the growing demand for health services. The center consists of 12 consultation rooms, an operation theatre, emergency ward, family medicine and a community nurse and an elderly outreach program. The center will offer new health service and is equipped with advanced technology for diagnosis and treatment. Officials hope that this new center will help ease the country's health care system, such as the Salmaniya Medical Cen nter, which treat approximately 2.5 million patients per year. The Minister of Health, Dr Faisal Al Mousawi, thanked the Kanoo family in his opening speech. Bahrain, as a member of the World Health Organization General Assembly, has accepted a leading role for instituting new health care services. The Hamad Kanoo Health Center and the future Mohammed bin Jassim Kanoo Health Center in Hamad Town, also to be built by the Kanoo family, will ensure that the country will meet these challenges.
