Russian Officials Worried over Middle East, Urge Restraint
Russian officials expressed concern Sunday about the escalating violence in the Middle East, calling on Israel and the Palestinians to show restraint, the Interfax news agency reported.
"An escalation of tensions may have a negative impact on the Middle East peace process," a diplomatic source told the news agency. Russia is joint co-sponsor of the Arab-Israeli peace process with the United States.
Russia was urging both sides "to show restraint and prevent a roll-back of the peace process," the official said, adding that Moscow believed force could not resolve differences – MOSCOW (AFP)
