Sudan Airways cargo plane crashes; 20 people killed
A Sudan Airways cargo plane crashed into a residential district of the Central African Republic capital of Bangui on Thursday and at least 20 people were killed, witnesses said.
"We saw around 20 bodies in the wreckage of the plane. There was one survivor who was wounded and was carried away," said one witness, according to Reuters. He said he saw the markings of Sudan Airways on parts of the wreckage.
The plane crashed short of the main airport of Bangui, hitting a heavily-populated market district. A source at regional air authority Asecna (Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa) said the plane had been bound for Congo Republic's capital Brazzaville, but had tried to land at Bangui due to technical problems.
