Tourist Travels Beats Overseas Travels in First Ever Sabre Travel Network Travel Agent Cricket Tournament in Qatar
This month was witness to the first ever Sabre Travel network Middle East Travel Agent Cricket Tournament. Competing for the Championship, travel agencies from all over Qatar tested their skills against one another and vied for the top place and grand prize. Bringing 12 different agencies together, Sabre managed to direct the typical competitiveness of the travel industry players into a positive activity, ultimately helping to foster a sense of community and partnership.
The travel agencies who pitted their skills against those of their competitors included: Darwish Travels, Mannai Travels, Overseas Travels, United Tours and Travels, Kanoo Travel, Qatar Tours, Alshamel Travels, Regency Travels, Happy Journey, Falcon Travels, Tourist Travels and Jet Travels.
The first round of the Sabre Cricket Tournament was held at the Ideal Indian School Cricket Grounds, in the Dafana Area, Doha, on the 15th of May 2009. Of the 12 competing agencies, Tourist Travels (TT), Overseas Travels (OT), Mannai Travels (MT) and Happy Journey (HJ) managed to break through to the semi finals. The first round saw TT beat out HJ by 7 wickets, and the second round was witness to OT triumphing over MT by 7 runs. The final round was played on the 22th of May 2009, and pitted TT against OT, with TT ultimately taking home the championship by just 3 wickets.
The winners and runners up were honoured during an awards ceremony that was attended by all teams, their families, other members of the travel agencies and Sabre Officials.
