A Yemeni raid that killed at least two al Qaeda members on Monday addressed security concerns that prompted the closure of the American embassy in Sana'a, the U.S. mission said on Tuesday, according to Reuters. "Successful counter-terrorism operations conducted by Government of Yemen security forces January 4 north of the capital have addressed a specific area of concern, and have contributed to the Embassy's decision to resume operations," the embassy said on its website on Tuesday.
The U.S. embassy had closed on Sunday, citing threats by al Qaeda. It reopened on Tuesday.
The British and French embassies resumed operations on Tuesday but remained closed to the public, diplomats at those missions told the news agency.
