The organising team for Open Day at the Emirates Aviation College
Working professionals or students who are looking for a career in aviation are invited to attend Open Day at Emirates Aviation College (Building B) on Saturday, 5th February 2011 from 0900 to 1630. The event is designed to showcase the Business Skills Programme (BSP) with course counseling, interactive workshops and tours of the facilities.
“In its first year of operations, the BSP has provided career opportunities to approximately 50 percent of its students,” said Brendan Noonan, SVP Learning and Development, Emirates Aviation College. “The programme’s success is demonstrated by the recent overseas participants who have traveled to Dubai to take the courses and pursue a career in aviation. Not only does it help aspiring entrants to build a career path in aviation; it also helps the industry at large by contributing a trained and qualified workforce,” he added.
The fee-based courses offered under BSP are short-term duration (up to one month) and are for professional development. Participants who enroll in the courses will be tutored by the industry’s top facilitators, and learn about how to pursue a career in the aviation industry. The purpose of Open Day is to give a brief introduction to the courses that are available. Open Day is free of charge and open to the public.
Course counseling is open all day, where participants receive advice on best fit courses for them, based on their work/study experience. Interactive workshops include Leadership, Customer Service, Negotiation/Selling, Air Cargo, Ramp Handling, Airline Passenger Handling and Reservation Fares and Ticketing. Workshops include a teaser activity that will provide participants a glimpse into the course contents.
Tours of the facility start on the hour from 0930 to 1530. Included in the tour are visits to the auditorium, Learning Lounge (mock-up of airport check-in area), Induction room (majlis with Arabic souk), classroom with multimedia facilities, The Learning Resource Centre, Cafeteria and flight simulators at CAE.
A presentation from Emirates Group recruitment will take place in the Auditorium Al Yazi at 1100 and 1300. This presentation will focus on career opportunities within the EK Group, and soft skills and competencies needed for a career with Emirates or in aviation.
The day’s activities will be fun and educational, with three chances to win complimentary space in one of the courses through a raffle draw. The Emirates Aviation College (Building B) is located in Al Garhoud, near the Dubai Tennis Stadium. For more information, call 04 218 7276/286 8118 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
