The al-Aqsa hospital in Deir al-Balah was shelled killing 4 people, wounding 60 people, half of whom were medical staff, and damaging the intensive care unit.

Hamas announced today that it had kidnapped an Israeli soldier. Israel's ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosser denies this while the Israel Defense Forces says the kidnapping "still cannot be ruled out".

The IDF announced on Sunday evening that 13 Israeli soldiers from the Golani Brigade were killed since Saturday night in fighting in Gaza, bringing the total number of military fatalities in Operation Protective Edge to 18.
