Ferguson: A repeat of last season's disastrous run will not happen again

'Confident' Ferguson says would make sure last season's European shambles don't recur
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said he would ensure that his team's disastrous run in the European competitions last season is not repeated again.
Ferguson said United's failure in the Champions League and the Europa League , which cost them 13.4 million pounds, was a mere blip, and you won't see that again.
"It's fair to say we threw that one away. That won't happen again next season. We'll qualify from the group stages. I'll make sure of it. European football is hugely important to us and we must compete for the biggest trophies," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.
"We need to make a statement - and show everybody last season was just a blip," he added. (ANI)
