Liverpool has hit back at its controversial striker Luis Suarez's statement he is being hounded out of English football, by insisting that the 40million pound-rated star was not for sale and would be expected to honour his contract.
According to the Mirror, Suarez tried to pin the blame for his intended exit on media intrusion, after he shamed his club by incurring an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra, before his disgraceful 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
The report further said that Suarez's statement was a stab on the back for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who stood by his wayward striker after his disgraceful chomp on Ivanovic in April.
Stating that Suarez is not for sale, Liverpool further said that neither the player nor his representatives had communicated their feelings directly to the club, although the statement added that the club remains supportive of Suarez and expects him to honour his contract.
According to the report, the only way the Anfield giants are likely to grant Suarez's wish is by forcing him to hand in an official transfer request, avoiding severance payments on his contract and having to hand over any part of the transfer fee to the player. (ANI)
