Manchester United fans have disregarded a plea made by Sir Alex Ferguson, who had called upon his club's supporters to foster a better relationship with their traditional rivals Liverpool.

Ferguson had urged Red Devil fans to uphold the greatness of the club by behaving respectfully when they travel to Anfield for the Premier League match against the Reds next Sunday.

However, United fans rejected his desire during their team's 4-0 victory over Wigan, and instead joined a chorus to sing anti-Liverpool chants.

"You're always the victims, it's never your fault," The Telegraph quoted the fans, as chanting.

Even ignoring the tastelessness of their actions, the singing marked a stunning disregard of Ferguson's wishes, a point confirmed in a club statement, the paper said.

"The manager has made the club's position very clear on this matter, it's now up to the fans to respect that," a United spokesperson said.

United supporters also took to social media on Saturday night to claim that "you're always the victims, it's never your fault", which was referred to the much-publicised race row between Liverpool 's Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra last season, the paper added. (ANI)
