Reina: Difficult to refuse move to Barcelona
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina admits it would be difficult to refuse a move to Barcelona, though he insists he is happy at Anfield.
The 30-year-old has been a reported target for the Catalan club some time and with Victor Valdes believed to be close to joining AS Monaco, a deal could happen this summer.
Speaking at a press conference to reveal his new website, Reina stressed there had been no official approach from the Liga champions, although he confessed it would be tough to turn them down.
“Barcelona is a great club and it is difficult to say no to a club like Barcelona,” he said. “But we are talking about assumptions and I should not do it.
“It would be difficult leave Liverpool. If I do it, [it] is [to] improve and grow as player.
“I have no evidence about Barcelona's interest in me. I don't know if the club has spoken with my agent. If he doesn't say something it is because there isn't any serious offer on the table.
“I have a contract with Liverpool and I'm very happy in England. At present, I just have one option: stay at Liverpool. Everything else is just talk. There has been no direct contact.”
Reina, who began his career at Camp Nou, has been with the Anfield club since 2005.
