Three Algerian wrestlers book spots in Rio Olympics
Three Algerian athletes of Greco-Roman wrestling have booked berth in the Olympic Games Rio 2016.
Two of them ensure their qualification at the pre-Olympic tournament "Africa-Oceania" which ended Sunday evening in Mohammed Boudiaf Complex after three days competition.
Besides, Tarek Aziz Benaissa (66 Kg), who qualified thanks to his fifth place in the World Championship of Las Vegas in September 2015, two Algerian wrestlers Adem Boudjemline (85 Kg) and Hamza Haloui (98 kg) awaited this pre-Olympic tournament to qualify.
Boudjemline qualified after finishing second in the Greco-Roman wrestling events.
The second spot snatched during the tournament went to Hamza Haloui (98 Kg) who defeated Moroccan Choukri Atafi (4-0) for the second place.
The Tournament "Africa-Oceania" saw the participation of 244 wrestlers (men and women) from 22 countries including Algeria, which was present with 17 athletes (5 in Greco-Roman wrestling, 6 in freestyle wrestling and 6 in women's wrestling).
