Abu Dhabi Police and ADMA-OPCO launch the "Aviation Security Awareness Campaign"

Within the context of the close cooperation between Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) and the Ports & Airports Security Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Directorate of Security Affairs and Ports, a campaign has been launched to enhance the offshore-bound travelers’ perceptions and awareness of the importance of airport security measures.

Titled “Offshore Aviation Security Awareness Campaign”, the initiative, which was announced at ADMA-OPCO HQ on February 2nd, 2011, is part of the efforts made by the Ports & Airports Security Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Directorate of Security Affairs and Ports to limit the extent of violations that are most likely to impede the implementation of airport security measures.

ADMA-OPCO Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan has underscored the importance of the campaign in educating offshore-bound employees on the latest measures adopted to ensure passenger safety and security, voicing the company’s full support for the campaign.

“The initiative sheds light on the impact of airport security on our national economy, particularly the oil and gas sector and how the revenues of our companies as well as our country can be affected when security measures are weak or not in place,” he said.

A joint committee has been formed by ADMA-OPCO and the Airports Security Department to boost the passenger awareness of the latest security interventions involving offshore-bound travelers at the Abu Dhabi Airport.

The campaign occasions training workshops, printing of informative brochures and production of educative videos in addition to installing airport projection screens displaying maps of the islands and oil sites in Abu Dhabi. Traveler Help Desks have been likewise established in the passenger terminals as part of the campaign.

The initiative also includes lectures at ADMA-OPCO’s HQ auditorium explaining the latest security measures adopted at the Abu Dhabi Airport terminal serving offshore oil site-bound passengers.

The lectures highlight the dangers ensuing from the failure to abide by these security measures, with special emphasis on the prohibited items the passengers are not allowed to take along during their flights offshore.
