Abu Dhabi University capitalises on student success with Microsoft Live@edu

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has announced its latest collaboration with Microsoft during an event hosted at its Khalifa City campus. The event highlighted the many advantages of the new Microsoft Live@edu program and its role as a contributor to students’ academic success and future achievements.
Microsoft Live@edu is a modern resource consisting of a host of web-based tools that mimic software commonly used in the workplace. It is designed to allow easy and secure access to university-related information by all users, and to enhance time and task efficiency. ADU webmail, which is part of the MS Live@edu package, will become the only medium of online communication between students and faculty.
ADU Chancellor, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim noted that, “Education in the age of information is more dynamic and challenging than ever before. As an academic institution with a commitment to its students, ADU is making available the best possible tools and resources for our students, the generation of tomorrow.”
Password-protected workspaces will allow students to collaborate on group projects and assignments with ease. Students will have the ability to track and store word documents, images and other multimedia from any internet-enabled platform. Microsoft Live@edu allows students the freedom to connect to the various Microsoft Outlook online applications that will not only enhance their academic learning experience, but also equip them with skills that are valued by employers.
Dr. Nabil added: “The up-to-date technology and services offered by Microsoft Live@edu will bridge the gap between the university and the business world, giving students a feel of the kinds of programs they will be required to use on a daily basis in the work environment. Acquiring these skills at an earlier stage will improve the students’ fluency and encourage creativity of expression in the future.”
ADU’s collaboration with Microsoft resulted in greater access to Live@edu as well as a host of other academically-oriented end-user solutions. A competition for students jointly launched by ADU and Microsoft will demonstrate the unique benefits and efficiencies of the university’s email service, and students will get the chance to win a number of exciting prizes.
