ADPC has been awarded the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Quality Certificate

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) conferred the "ISO 14001-2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007" by Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance, The Certificate was presented by LRQA Area Manager for Middle East & Africa, Mr.Basam Obaid to Mr. Tawfeeq Al Mubarak ,Executive Vice President – Ports Unit, in a ceremony held on 13th March 2011 at ADPC-HQ.
The Abu Dhabi Port Company (ADPC) has been awarded certification to ISO 14001: 2004 -Environment Management System Standard and OHSAS 18001: 2007 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standard for ports operations.
ADPC Ports Unit has achieved ISO Certificates in Occupational Health and Safety as well as Environment from (LRQA) namely; ISO BS:OHSAS 18001:2007, which relates to a series of Occupational Health and Safety assessments, and ISO 14001:2004, which relates to the Environmental Management Systems. These two standards which this certificate is awarded for are among the world’s most accredited certifications in the field of Occupational Health & Safety as well as Environment.
Mr. Tony Douglas, the CEO of ADPC, declares that achieving this certification which adds yet further successes to ADPC record in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment. Achieving this certificate, he says, illustrates the adoption by the ADPC Ports Unit of the highest global standards in management, follow-up and improvement of the standards and systems of Health, Safety and Environment
“ADPC commitment to implement the requirements of achieving these two international standards will curtail the risks of health and safety to employees, customers and ports users, besides helping achieve better management of the environmental risks at ports, at the present time or future, and boosting the morale of employees,”
For his part LRQA Area Manager for Middle East & Africa, Mr.Basam Obaid, congratulated the ADPC on having achieved ISO certification to two of the most rigorous and demanding management system standards.
“The ADPC’s Ports Unit commitment to best practice in terms of Ports health and safety and environmental impact is evident by ADPC having taken action to implementing then seeking certification from the LRQA to these two standards.
“ADPC Ports Unit will implement the Integrated Health, Safety and Environment Management System (IHSE-MS) as part of their risk management strategy to address changing legislation and protect their workforce. The implementation of the Integrated Health, Safety and Environment Management System (IHSE-MS) promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing a framework that allows the ADPC Ports Unit to consistently identify and control its health, safety and environmental risks, reduce the potential for accidents, aid legislative compliance and improve overall performance of ADPC Ports.
