More than 100 Lebanese companies have confirmed their participation in the annual Baghdad trade fair in November, reports said.
The head of marketing for Lebanon's manufacturing sector was quoted by agencies as saying that “Ministers, trade officials and chamber of commerce representatives, as well as more than 250 Lebanese businessmen, will attend the opening of the Lebanese stand at the fair."
Iraqi telecom officials were quoted by the official Iraq News Agency (INA) as saying that a large number of international companies would exhibit their goods at the event in an attempt to penetrate the Iraqi market.
French telecom giant Alcatel is to start work on a $76 million project to rehabilitate Iraq's battered telephone network. Meanwhile, a Chinese firm has pulled out of a $28 million plan to set up a mobile telephone network in the sanctions-hit Arab state – Albawaba.com
