The Palestinians called Saturday for an emergency meeting of Arab League foreign ministers to discuss Israeli strikes on Palestinians and a US veto of a UN resolution on the Middle East.
"We ask for a meeting next Thursday to discuss the situation in the occupied territories in the light of the increase in unjust Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and its leadership and its national institutions," the Palestinian representative to the League, Mohammed Sobeih, told AFP.
Sobeih said the meeting should also discuss the US veto of a UN resolution on the Middle East, "which gives the green light to (Israeli Prime Minister Ariel) Sharon to increase the aggression against the Palestinian people."
Sobeih said his request would be submitted to member states for their approval. CAIRO- (AFP)
