Bee'ah launches residential recycling programme for the first time in UAE

Tandeef – a division of Bee’ah, the UAE’s leading integrated environmental management company, headquartered in Sharjah – celebrates its first operational year of servicing over 800,000 residents in Sharjah and looks forward to servicing the whole of the Emirate by the end of 2011. 

Bee’ah – established in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah with a commitment to lead the change for a greener environment in both Sharjah and the UAE - launched Tandeef, in January 2010, to deliver a comprehensive, cost effective, environmentally sound and technically reliable waste collection and city beautification solutions. Tandeef collects over 600,000 tons of non-hazardous municipal solid waste annually in the serviced sectors within the Emirate of Sharjah.

As part of Bee’ah’s overall integrated waste management strategy, its division Tandeef is on an aggressive timeline to expand its collection programmes, complementing Bee’ah’s recycling programme, to include all segments of the community such as residential, commercial and industrial. 

Looking forward into its ambitious year ahead, the company has already introduced the Middle East’s first 14-ton street flushing tanker which goes beyond conventional sweeping and litter picking by cleaning roads with water. And to crown it all, Bee’ah also introduced another first in the UAE: a residential recycling programme aimed at promoting source segregation. Besides providing the tools such as bins and totes in residential towers to collect waste, the programme also includes free door-to-door training on how to recycle at home. By the end of 2011, Bee’ah aims to further expand Tandeef’s fleet of vehicles and street sweepers which will in turn, generate over 750 new jobs.
