As part of its on-going corporate social and environmental responsibility efforts, du celebrates World Environment Day on 5th June with their campaign titled “For a Better Tomorrow”, with their initiative to reduce plastic bag usage with other alternative such as cotton bags in order to minimise the amount of unnecessary packaging and wastages.

The United Nations celebrates World Environment Day (WED) on 5th of June every year, and uses it as a day to stimulate worldwide awareness of environmental issues. WED is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. WED activities take place all year round but is universally celebrated on 5th June every year. It is also a day for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations.

Similarly, du’s environmentally friendly campaign involves engaging the employees and the customers to raise public awareness and promote the use of more environmentally-friendly substitutes and using recyclable bags. Caring for the environment and giving back to the society is something du is committed to, and these efforts are a reflection of this commitment. Therefore, on 5th June, every du customer will be handed cotton bags when visiting any du shop.
