Burgan Bank recently concluded its sponsorship of the “Kuwait Change” initiative that was aimed at celebrating World Environment Day, an effort to take part in the global celebration that is supports positive environmental action. The event, which was held at Marina Mall, was attended by US Ambassador to Kuwait, Debora Jones, and featured a range of activities that addressed the importance of preserving nature.

Bashir Jaber, Burgan Bank’s Acting Chief Marketing Officer-General Manager said: “World Environment Day is a day for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and future generations. The bank strongly believes in the importance of supporting environmental initiatives that have a direct impact on the community, and we encourage organizations as well as individuals to participate in such eco-friendly causes, helping to raise the level of awareness amongst the society.” 

The event featured a range of activities that included distributing reusable bags amongst the public, collecting plastic and paper items, which have been recycled to demonstrate the importance and benefits of recycling and reducing waste while emphasizing the magnitude of everyone’s role in preserving the environment. Participants in the event also planted 100 trees in Wafra, an initiative that re-emphasizes and marks the importance of a green society. 

“This year’s theme is Forests, an important element that provides shelter, jobs, security and cultural relevance for forest-dependent populations. They are the green lungs of the earth, vital to the survival of people everywhere - all seven billion of us,” added Jaber.
