ALBAWABA - A million users on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) have allegedly ditched the social media platform for a competitor named Bluesky which has recently witnessed a surge in users from nine million to 15 million since Sept. 2024.
On a similar note, American actress Jamie Lee Curtis, Journalist Don Lemon, and news outlet The Guardian also announced their departure from Musk's X but haven't announced moving to Bluesky. The Guardian took to X for the last time and announced leaving due to the platform allowing "far-right conspiracy theories and racism" posts.
According to Pop Crave, American singer Lizzo has also announced moving to Bluesky and said, "I hate the internet. Anyways I joined Bluesky because we’re leaving toxicity in 2024".
1 Million users ditch Musk's X for Bluesky after 2024 US Elections
This all comes in due to the 2024 US Elections, in which Donald Trump secured his second term against Kamala Harris and became the 47th President of the United States.
Some also shared that their reason for leaving was Musk's recent alliance with Donald Trump in the 2024 US Elections against Kamala Harris.
One user added on X, "It feels a bit like watching the Berlin Wall collapsing - BlueSky now on 15 million users & counting. This is the end of Twitter as we know it in the UK." At the same time, sharing a video of Bluesky garnering millions and millions of users at a rapid rate.
Will Bluesky overcome X or is it just another Threads?
Social media users are now wondering if Bluesky will actually be a competitor to X, unlike Mark Zuckerberg's Threads which witnessed a surge in users at launch but slowly lost it as time passed.
Bluesky took to its official X account and thanked the millions of users who joined its platform, while also sharing another post on Nov. 12 showcasing that users who signed up, are already happy after sharing their experiences with the platform in question.
"I didn't realize how much I missed interacting with real humans". This might've come from the rise of complaints about bot accounts on X and how many replies have nothing to do with what the original post was debating.
