Recently published statistics by the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) reported that investments into jointly owned factories in Arabian Gulf states hit $43.9 billion by the end of 2000.
This volume of investment constitutes 52 percent of the total investments into factories in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, reported Al-Bayan.
Factories in the GCC employed 167,908 workers at the end of 2000, which is equivalent to 28 percent of the overall labor employed by all manufacturing factories in the AGCC, estimated at 599,972 workers. — (menareport.com)
