Media entertainment is attracting increased interest among Arabs who are seeking relief from the disheartening effects of negative global events. This has prompted A2 Avalon, a newly-formed production and distribution company in the Middle East, to expand its exclusive distribution rights to more than 11,000 hours of film, TV, documentaries, series etc. to provide high quality content for the region’s 400 plus TV channels.
A2 Avalon currently owns one of the largest libraries of independently-produced content in the Arab World. Its operations cover areas including the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa and Iran. Aside from distribution, the company also provides various media-related services such as media consulting, film and HD production, stock footage licensing, post-production, and DVD authoring.
A2 is capable of handling the syndication of feature films, television programs, documentaries and new media content to theaters, TV stations, airlines, mobile and internet networks throughout the Middle East. The company possesses state of the art facilities where it is in the initial stages of DVD production and the subsequent conversion of the medium to Blue-Ray Discs (High Definition), a new media format that offers clearer and better audio/video quality.
Talaat Captan, CEO, A2 Avalon, said: “We intend to become the sought-after media organization in the region’s rapidly-growing entertainment business mainly through our comprehensive database of quality content as well as our in-house productions. We are positioning ourselves as leading innovators by continuing to discover new media possibilities and introducing them to our audiences here. ”
Captan, who is one of the founders and owners of Prime Pictures, a Middle East- based motion picture distributor, brings 25 years of industry experience to A2. He maintains close connections with major Hollywood studios such as Sony, Paramount, and DreamWorks, among others. He is also a prominent figure among Arab media companies.
A2 Avalon’s President Patrick Samaha has extensive experience and expertise in the marketing, advertising, media and broadcasting fields, working for major companies such as Toyota, Impact BBDO (Pepsi & Diageo), OMD and MTV Networks. He was responsible for launching and managing MTV, the largest youth and children’s entertainment brand in the world, in the Middle East. Samaha will draw on 12 years of exceptional multi-industry experience to provide A2 with a competitive edge in the Arab media markets.
“This is a very exciting time for the entertainment industry, where almost every week there is something new in terms of programs, formats and features. The programming content we are seeing today boldly defines the changes and development that the world has witnessed. A2 is optimistic in playing a major part in the region’s transformation as the next global media hub,” said Patrick Samaha, President, A2 Avalon.
