Abbott Laboratories’ new therapeutic nutritional product for cancer patients ProSure is now available in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A recent study shows that ProSure can reverse weight loss while building muscle in cancer patients. According to experts in the field, weight loss in cancer patients can present a significant challenge. Certain types of cancer can cause changes to the body’s metabolism, resulting in decreased appetite, faster consumption of calories than normal and increased breakdown of muscle, resulting in rapid weight loss.
ProSure is enriched with fish oil, which contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), an omega-3 fatty acid. EPA is thought to reduce the impact of metabolic responses to cancer, by blocking the substances that produce muscle breakdown.
ProSure is available in the UAE from pharmacies. Patients are advised to talk with their physician to see if the supplement could help their condition.
