US-based ACE*COMM, a provider of advanced operations support systems (OSS) technologies, and Giza Systems have received a contract extension to provide local and remote data collection mediation solutions, along with a centralized network management system, to perform advanced data collection functions and transaction record processing for Telecom Egypt (TE).
ACE*COMM's relationship with Middle East system’s integrator Giza Systems and TE began in 2001 with a focused data collection project in the Cairo region. This new contract extension to the project now spans all of Egypt, includes data collection hardware, software and services for over 400 network elements, and is valued by ACE*COMM at millions of dollars over the project lifespan.
Giza Systems had selected ACE*COMM's industry-class data-collection mediation solutions for their data-capture capabilities to collect, store and process call detail records (CDRs), as well as traffic and accounting data, in real-time. Giza Systems' scope includes the design and implementation of the comprehensive solution, as well as the integration of the varying components of the project.
TE managers will now use the ACE*COMM solutions to collect usage and network information to improve billing accuracy and network management functions for their countrywide network.
Telecom Egypt's network spans over 400 host switches, from different vendors, covering six regions and 26 governates. It provides services to 8.5 million subscribers with a capacity for 11 million in total, representing a teledensity of 12.5 percent.
