This Act Can Cost You Dh500 Fine in Dubai

Next time you spit chewing gum on the road in Dubai, be prepared to pay a Dh500 fine.

The Dubai Municipality, in a post on Twitter, said: Avoid throwing bubble gum on the roads, to avoid a violation penalty of Dh500 based on local order No.11 of 2003.

In an earlier post, the municipality also said: "If you throw a single cup of tea, it may cost you Dh500, based on the terms of local order No. 11 of 2003, in your hand, to sustain your city's cleanliness."

The move is part of Dubai Municipality's keenness to provide a clean and sustainable environment. It is aimed at enhancing the participation and contribution of the community members in maintaining the public cleanliness and aesthetic appearance of the Emirate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is also aimed at increasing community environmental awareness in the emirate of Dubai in light of the multiplicity of nationalities and cultures in the emirate.

One must be aware that chewing gum in Dubai Metro or the platform and Dubai buses isn't allowed and you can be fined if caught. Spitting in a public place can cost Dh1,000 in fine.

In its website, Dubai Municipality has listed various offences and fines. Throwing waste on the streets, urinating in facilities not designated for such purposes and spitting in public can invite a fine of Dh500 in Dubai.
