Yemen’s Aden governorate collected 729 million Yemeni rials ($4.2 million) worth of customs fees in the first half of April and is expected to reach one billion rials ($5.7 million) by the end of the month, reported the official SABA news agency. According to Yemeni officials, the majority of the fees were collected at Aden Habor, airport container terminals and customs offices across the governorate.

The Yemeni government said in February that it is discussing the possible amendment of customs tariff levels, bringing them closer to levels applied by the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Tariffs could be narrowed to eight to 10 percent range, down from their current five to 30 percent range. — (menareport.com)
