The Jebel Ali-based Aggreko International Power Projects (AIPP), a dedicated business unit of the global power solutions provider Aggreko plc, has signed a second contract with National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) to provide a 20MW/11kV power package in Nigeria’s federal capital, Abuja.
The 20 MW power package is being used to help satisfy local demand for power from the grid and also assist in stabilizing the Abuja network, according to a company press release. The site will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will be managed by the Aggreko onsite staff.
The Aggreko power package comprises 40 containers in total, including diesel generators, transformers, control rooms, cable and ancillary products. The first shipment of 12 containers left Aggreko’s Jebel Ali facility on January 24 in a convoy of eight trucks for transportation to Sharjah International Airport. The equipment was airfreighted by 76 Ilyushin transport aircraft, specially chartered for the project.
In June last year, Aggreko delivered, installed and commissioned a 15 MW power package in Abuja to meet the growing demand for electricity whilst a new 330 kV overhead line is being installed and commissioned.
AIPP was specifically formed by Aggreko to handle multi-megawatt temporary power projects. Aggreko’s power solutions include generators, load banks, transformers, fuel tanks, cables and switchgear. In addition, the company provides project design planning, installation, commissioning and operating services and 24-hour onsite service and maintenance support.
Aggreko is an international firm dealing in generator, temperature control and moisture control equipment hire, operating in the UK, Europe, Singapore, Australia, the Middle East and the USA. Aggreko is Scottish based and is a subsidiary of Christian Salvensen plc. — (menareport.com)
