Omran Hassan Malek, Senior Specialist in Policy and Regulation and Advanced Air Mobility Project Manager at the General Civil Aviation Authority in the UAE, emphasized that the country is well-prepared for the arrival of the future of air mobility. Collaborations with companies like Archer and extensive groundwork in terms of regulations and airspace readiness have laid the foundation for the launch of air taxis in 2026. While initial adoption may be gradual, air taxis are expected to become a prominent mode of transportation within the next five years.
Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and Archer, along with prominent players in the aviation industry such as Falcon Aviation and GAL-AMMROC, have joined forces to endorse the introduction of Archer's fully electric air taxi service throughout the UAE. Abu Dhabi has taken the lead as the inaugural partner, aiming for a 2026 launch.
Creating a comprehensive ecosystem is crucial for the success of air taxis, and the UAE is actively collaborating with manufacturers, stakeholders, and international organizations such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to ensure a seamless transition.
