The pioneer of online media in the region and one of the regions top internet brands, Al Bawaba Group - owner and operator of www.albawaba.com and www.menareport.com, took home two gold awards in the first annual Pan Arab Web Awards held in Knowledge Village Dubai, UAE on March 23rd.
Al Bawaba received a Gold award in each of the two categories it participated in - Health Services and Tourism - two of the seventeen that were available for participation by any Arab website.
In the Health Services category, Al Bawaba received a Gold award for its Arabic Health and Beauty channel – http://www.albawaba.com/ar/health - which features lifestyle content covering topics such as makeup and beauty tips, fashion, diet, mental well being, parenting and relationships. The channel, a favorite amongst many women in the region and especially the GCC countries, receives in excess of three hundred unique visitors and one million impressions on a monthly basis. In Ramadan, the channel also features cooking and fasting tips for Muslim women.
In the Tourism category, Al Bawaba received a Gold award for its English and Arabic language travel channels – http://albawaba.mytravelchannel.com. Al Bawaba’s Travel channel is a joint effort with the E-Ventures, an Emirates Group company.
The competition was organized jointly by Dubai Internet City (DIC), Assembly of Professionals and Technicians in Lebanon (APTL) and Business Software Alliance (BSA).
There were 17 categories in the competition reflecting various sectors and disciplines, including Art and Design, Banks and Financial Institutes, Corporate and E-Commerce, Cultural and Education, Directories and Information Services, Fashion, Government, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), International Organizations, Health Services, Information Technology (IT), Industry, Media, Personal, Travel and Tourism, Entertainment, and Transportation. The entries were judged by an independent jury comprising of industry leaders, technologists and other leading personalities.
