Plans for the construction of a Dh500 million Media Complex in Dubai Studio City (DSC) were revealed on Wednesday by the Al Aqariya Group. The complex will include a media center, a commercial facility, several major television studios, and will also serve as Al Aqariya's headquarters.
The complex will feature state-of-the-art technology that enables synchronized transmission of 32 channels, while an additional 20 production units will be built by the group at an investment of Dh111 million, according to Khaleej Times.
The facility will be built over an area of 29,000 square feet, and also facilitate the publishing of the company's real estate and construction related publications in addition to its television service.
"Dubai Studio City is the perfect location for Al Aqariya's headquarters as it offers the ideal supportive environment for our venture," said Mohammed Saleh, Chairman of Al Aqariya Group.
"Our facility will benefit from the close proximity of other companies from across the film and TV production value chain in DSC," Saleh added.
Saleh went on to explain that the first phase of the project would create the region's largest television studio covering an area of 900 square feet, and that the second phase would "have a unique media centre, the first of its kind in the region. The project will also include a commercial facility, details of which will be announced later."
Expressing satisfaction with the proposed complex, Executive Director of Media, TECOM Investments, Dr Amina Al Rustamani stated: "We are happy to have Al Aqariya, the leading real estate-focused channel in the Middle East, at Dubai Studio City."
