Al-Yousuf expands market share

Al-Yousuf Distribution supplied components to over 50 percent of computer retailers involved in two Egyptian government initiatives designed to help students and underprivileged families purchase Personal Computers this year. 

 

The initiatives, A Computer for Every Student and A Computer for Every Home, were launched by the Egyptian Ministries of Education and Telecommunication respectively in December 2002. Aiming to quadruple the country’s installed computer base, the initiatives were designed to facilitate the purchase of a PC by needy Egyptian families, who could not afford to make such a purchase upfront. 

 

In the first month of the initiative, Al Yousuf’s partner retailers reported a sales growth of over 40 percent. Supplying Western Digital hard drives, ViewSonic monitors, DFI motherboards, CNet networking products and NEC optical drives, Al-Yousuf Distribution saw demand for all of its products rise exponentially.
