As Algeria embarks on massive reforms in the energy sector, seeking to create an environment that is conducive to foreign investment, the Ministry of Energy and Mines and Sonatrach announced Algeria Energy Week, which will be held in Algiers, December 14-18, 2002. The country’s stated objectives are “to double the number of companies operating in Algeria over the next five years,” according to Chakib Khelil, minister of Energy and Mines.

The timely event has been designed to fulfill the requirement for a unified strategic, commercial and technical forum for all those involved in Algeria’s oil and gas sectors. This combined event will enable the participants to discuss new technologies, explore investment opportunities and develop business relationships.

The 5th Journées Scientifiques & Techniques (JST 5) of Sonatrach will enable the international and national executives of the energy sector and the scientific community to discuss the latest developments and the challenges linked to technology, nurturing human resources, protecting the environment and globalization.

The 3rd International Conference ‘Opportunities in Algeria’s Oil and Gas industries’ will be led by the Ministry of Energy and Mines and will provide the strategic forum for senior industry figures, national and international to announce and discuss new regulations, investment opportunities and developments within the oil and gas sectors.

The Algeria Oil and Gas Exhibition (ALOGE) will be the commercial focal point of the event. Established companies and those new to the market, national and international, will present their technologies, products and services, exploring business opportunities and enhancing relationships within the Algerian oil and gas industries. — (menareport.com)
