The 8th All-African Trade Fair, scheduled to take place in April of 2002 in Cairo, aims at promoting inter-African trade, which currently accounts for only eight percent of all exchanges between Africa and the rest of the world.
To promote the endeavor, Yussuf Butrus Ghali, minister of economy and foreign trade, recently called on all Egyptian trade representation offices in South Africa, Cameroon, Senegal and other COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and South Africa) member states to support the fair.
It was decided that a new committee to promote Egyptian products overseas would be formed. Agreements previously signed with over 34 countries nationwide will be the basis of its functions. The group will consist of representatives of investors' associations and the General Federation for Egyptian Chambers of Commerce. — (MENA Report)
