US-based producer of microprocessors and flash memory devices AMD plans to set up its Middle East sales and marketing office in Dubai Internet City.
The Middle East office will provide a sales support center for AMD's expanding number of partners and customers in the Middle East and North Africa. The office is expected to open officially in May of 2004.
According to Gartner - PC Quarterly Statistics Q4 2003, AMD saw an annual unit growth rate of 77 percent in 2003 in mobile PCs and a unit growth rate of 26 percent in the Desktop PC market in the same period in the EMEA region.
The new office will also provide an opportunity to build relationships with the regional operations of AMD's international vendor partners like IBM, HP, Sun, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Acer to introduce AMD processor-based PCs, notebooks and hardware solutions in the region.
