Amoun Pharmaceuticals, the first private company to be established in the Egyptian pharmaceutical industry, has announced the implementation of a new automated order-taking system to speed up the delivery of vital pharmaceutical supplies within Egypt, stated a press release.

Gargour Technologies, Symbol Technologies' Egyptian business partner together with Amoun Pharmaceuticals' information technology (IT) department, designed and implemented this solution to improve the efficiency of Amoun's distribution, inventory and customer service.

Before implementing the new system, Amoun's sale representatives were expected to visit the retailers of their products throughout Egypt, taking orders manually. The sales reps than deliver customers' orders with the quantities and prices to the factory, which initiated a delivery process from the factory, directly sent to the customer.

The new solution that was custom-developed for the Symbol SPT 1700 mobile data terminal makes the order taking process more accurate and efficient. The Symbol mobile computing device contains all the data that the rep requires to accurately take the orders on-site. The up-to-date list of items offered to pharmacies and pharmaceutical distribution centers can be checked directly via the Symbol handheld, then and there. Using item barcode scanning as well as the options on the touch screen display, the required items and quantities can be easily chosen, the total calculated and appropriate discounts applied.

Amoun exports to a number of countries, including the United States, Eastern Europe, as well as fourteen Arab states. It was founded in 1976 as an import and distribution company and is one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in Egypt. — (menareport.com)
