Amwal, Qatar’s leading investment banking, asset management and financial planning company, organized a Team-building, Goals setting and motivation training program for its staff recently at Al Danah Club in Doha. The  session was held under the theme “The Future is Now”.

Dr. Shaukat Chandna, Amwal’s Director of Future Financial Planning Department, said the program was designed to help Amwal’s employees understands the dynamics of “Change” in their lives and to use it as a catalyst to develop their greater teamwork and set higher personal goals.

“Growth in personal and professional lives can only be managed if individuals agrees on certain goals and then take ownership of these goals passionately enough to want to achieve them, ”explained Dr.Shaukat. He also stressed that higher goals of any corporation can be achieved in the best interest of clients and the corporation only if the strategy is clear and the tactics are well applied.

“I strongly believe in teamwork and understand thoroughly that teamwork dose not just come about one sunny morning. It has to be cultivated and nutured carefully. Excellent communication skills must be coupled with a messianic drive to seize initiative wherever the opportunity lies. I also believe that effective work teams are an essential component of today’s business environment and can lead to greater creativity, improved job satisfaction and increased energy and excitement and in some cases can lead to swifter and more effective implementation of ideas and to a better use of individual skills and abilities. Therefore this workshop was developed encompassing all sections and departments with Amwal to be able to have everyone functioning on the same wavelength and at the same frequency with the same aim and same-shared ambition. Each staff member should have at least one goal they want to achieve and then take total and complete accountability for its achievement. Therefore, the expectation of a reward must go hand-in-hand with the realization of accountability,” Dr.Shaukat further added.

Murad Mahmoud, General Manager of Amwal, who was also present during the convention said:” We at Amwal believe that a professional financial service company has only two VIP’s its clients and its sales consultants and we must learn to reach out to both of them.”

“Actions speak louder than words. And by conducting this training program aimed at generating team spirit and greater professional focus, we are in fact telling our employees that they are our ambassadors to the people at large and we care about them because through them Amwal as a company will be judged,” he further added.

Sheikha Hanadi Nasser Bin Khalid Al Thani, Amwal’s Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director, who actively participated in the program, said teamwork and goal-setting practice gives companies the tools to implement best practices to maximize performance and produce results.

“Total team-play was the key to operating effectively and efficiently so that provision of quality services becomes a corporate culture. It is vital the management and staff are united in servicing clients based on loyalty, commitment and strength of trust between them. This can only happen if management and staff work together as a team. It is management's responsibility to create a positive, fun and reinforcing environment and to realize that it takes more than an incentive to succeed,” Sheikha Hanadi commented. We wanted to have an informal and fun event for Amwal family, which was also a learning experience. And I think we succeeded in achieving that purpose. Everyone seemed to have truly benefited from the session, and its visible success has encouraged us to make it a regular event on our training calendar,” Sheikha Hanadi added.
