ALBAWABA - In an unexpected move, Apple has decided to deviate from its longstanding tradition of introducing a new iPad each year. For the first time since the launch of the iPad product line in 2010, the tech giant has chosen not to release a new tablet in the calendar year of 2023.

iPad, which has been a cornerstone of Apple's annual product portfolio, has seen the company introduce at least one new model every year. Recent times witnessed Apple further pushing boundaries by unveiling four new iPad models annually. However, the breaking of tradition in 2023 signals a notable shift in Apple's approach to its tablet series.

The latest iPad release occurred in October 2022, and the sole hardware addition related to the iPad in 2023 was the USB-C Apple Pencil. This deviation from the usual release pattern raises speculation about Apple's motives and the potential impact on the future direction of the iPad.

The decision to skip new iPad releases in 2023 could represent a strategic move by Apple to reassess its tablet strategy. As the iPad continues to evolve into a more advanced and widely adopted device, the necessity for frequent hardware updates may be diminishing for many users. This shift in consumer behavior may be prompting Apple to rethink its strategy, opting for more effective and less frequent hardware updates.

The anticipated unveiling of Apple's 2024 calendar reveals significant steps in artificial intelligence with the introduction of the Vision Pro. Rumors even hint at the debut of a 12.9-inch iPad Air model. If these predictions materialize, 2024 could witness Apple releasing an unprecedented six iPad models in a single calendar year. The flagship iPad Pro is expected to bring substantial improvements, including OLED screen technology, the M3 chip, and a new "laptop-like" keyboard accessory, heightening expectations for the next wave of iPad innovations.
