The date of the most eagerly awaited launch is in. Well, almost. Apple is planning to hold a big event early in September, when it is expected to unveil its new iPhones.

The month of the launch isn't a surprise, considering Apple has launched its new phones in September since 2011. According to BuzzFeed's John Paczkowski, the event this year is likely to be scheduled for September 9 — the same day on which Apple held this event last year.

The next generation iPhones, speculated to be the 'S' series of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, are expected to arrive with a pressure-sensitive Force Touch display, an improved camera system and a significantly faster and power-efficient wireless chip. The force touch technology is already included on Apple Watch, new MacBook and MacBook Pros.

According to Paczkowski, we'll also see some new iPads and the long-awaited new Apple TV. The latter was originally rumoured to be introduced at Word Wide Developers Conference in June, but it was nowhere to be found.

The Apple TV is expected to be a complete redesign of the hardware that Apple's been offering unchanged since early 2012. The device will feature a refreshed and slimmer chassis and new innards, Apple's A8 system on chip, an increase in on-board storage, and an improved operating system that will support Siri voice control, writes Paczkowski.
