Arab exports to Germany hit a record high of DM 19 billion in 2000, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, up from DM 11.9 billion in 1999 and reflecting a 60 percent increase from the previous year.

This export growth is largely attributed to the sharp rise in oil prices in 2000, whereby oil constitutes 65 percent of the total Arab exports to Germany.

In addition, the total imports from Germany to Arab countries grew to DM 23.45 billion in 2000, up from DM 21.2 billion in the previous year, constituting a 10.6 percent rise. —(Albawaba-MEBG)
